what I belive he meant is that since you mostly do MAcro and portraits, you dont need the high speed of a 7d while the 5D excels especially at portraits due to its full frame. 5D is slower but that doesnt mean its not capable of shooting motorsport for 4 times a year. 7d excels in motorsport...

In all honesty how many people who never delved in photography equipment (quite a large number of them) would figure that out? Did me some varouis tests (shoots around) with F4 and F2.8..... when F4 fails, f2.8 is just 1 step ahead and on the verge of failing too in most cases... 1 step not...
