    Pocket lightmeter?

I've tried one of these and was surprised that I got pretty much the same readings on the Gossen Lunasix 3 I also use. There's a couple of versions of them found here as well. Best thing about them - works for me, second best thing - cheaper than chips.

    A Cautionary Tale

Just read this and found it most amusing! I was certain there were tide times on both sides of the causeway, just in case people thought it would be safe to nip across and ended up getting stuck. I remember the first time going there for a school trip, in the morning we walked across the sands...

Whos afraid of the big bad dentist

Bad experiences as a child, gums ripped with the metal tools, bad extractions, etc, I hated the dentist then and I still don't like them now - if I have to go I have to be driven there by my partner because she knows that if it's left to me I'll go somewhere else to purposefully miss the...

    Things kids say....

I was 2 years old when I went to see my newborn baby brother in hospital and asked why he was in a fish tank. I know now that it was a perspex cot and not a fish tank. An old teacher of mine told me how he was in his garden when he stopped his 4 year old daughter from eating a worm, then with...

    Dropped my Camera :(

I'd say give the front element a good clean with a rocket blower to try and remove any shards of filter glass that could scratch the front element. Don't use a cloth, or if you do, don't apply a ton of pressure as you might scratch the lens. Front elements are a lot thicker and tougher than...

Canon EOS 1100 D advice please......

Many moons ago, one of the first things I was told to do was find two subjects, one stationary and one moving, didn´t matter what they were - a cup on the bench at home, a car driving down the street, then fully open the aperture and adjust the shutter speed for ´correct´ exposure and take a...

Show us yer film shots then!

:agree: That´s a very good idea - think I´ll try that next time, even if it means having to bring my own bread - I suppose I could borrow one of the neighbours kids as a small ´helper´. Really like that second one of yours T, but don´t think the last one is too bright either. Brighter, yes...

Another one from me, bit disappointed as I managed to lop its feet off and because of the way it's facing - no amount of asking/threatening/pouting could tempt the swan to turn around and have another flap . Taken with my Minolta SRT-303 + Tamron SP 500mm mirror, again on Agfaphoto Vista.

    paralysis by analysis

Remember that not everything is about getting the 'right' (such a subjective word) settings and what others may like, it's about what you want - something that speaks to you, if others like it - bonus! To quote Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon "It is like a finger, pointing away to the moon. Don't...

    free editing software

:agree: can also clone and heal with it as well. Have a look at LightZone as well, used to be paid for up to v3.9, but v4 is open source and is freely available for PC, Linux and Mac. Doesn´t use layers as such, but each aspect can be turned on or off as required.

Show us yer "Hooley'd" film shots then!

:DThe foot is my partners, and her kicked off purple slippers are just up...across...whatever...from the foot. Definitely a dog tail, with the white splodge being one of her paws grizzly bear. The grey is my leg  I'm in a photo! The logs in front of the fire are positioned in a "I'll...

Did you know...you can still take photos with a mechanical camera even if you´re taking the battery for the light meter out...especially if you forget that you wound the film on, because you´re too busy concentrating on playing with the other mechanical camera that just arrived. Any who, this is...

Show us yer film shots then!

I like these three Mike, especially the first - more because it´s not normally the sort of thing that I like, but it feels big enough to step into and that really grabbed me. Not sure if I could mumble that any more clearly, or if I made one iota of sense, anyway, I like it! :) Cheers...
