Very sad indeed, 64 is no age. :( I think my fave role was as the father in Distant Voices, Still Lives.

    Help for DSLR newbie

I've 'loaned' a DSLR to my son who's been using his iPhone for photos - not bad, but, well, it's a phone. Anyway, his interest is tweaked so... But, I don't have the time to go over all the functions and consequences of the various settings. Found a couple of useful pages (this and that), but...

    mju 6010 tough

Many thanks all for your information and experiences. The Mju is gathering pace on the highly possible front - lack of OVF isn't really an issue in the cold light of day, I'm just a bit old fashioned when it comes to viewfinders. ;)

    mju 6010 tough

I've been looking for a compact, preferably with an optical VF, to carry with me daily but had the mju recommended (though no optical viewfinder). Discussing its merits a member of my camera club told me of one being offered as a prize in a comp. Do I enter the comp and hope for the best, or...

Ah, had I read this thread first. :bonk: Just posted here; So DNG seems to be gathering pace as the way to go?

    Which editor

Many thanks for the replies people, very much appreciated. Yes, while I'm using Photoshop CS at the moment on my sons PC, it's way beyond my pocket (as mentioned, a retiree I'm on a fixed income). However, Elements has become the hot favourite in the purchasing stakes - should be able to buy...

    Which editor

As a digital novice (cameras and computers) on a fixed income which software would the panel recommend? I shall be getting a computer in April (currently relying on the generosity of by son and daughter-in-law, which is limited - not their generosity but availability). s such I will need...

    Evening All!

Thanks for the welcome people. Sorry for the apparent tardiness in my reply, I'm yet to get a PC/internet connection (I'm at the mercy of my daughter-in-law for access...).

    Evening All!

Hello. Just a quick post to introduce myself; My name is Norman, though I prefer Norm on informal occasions. I'm retired and recently got a digital SLR, my first digital camera. Prior to which I'd been using a film camera, or rather not using it in recent years. Lots to learn and...
