LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

100-400 will be fine, plenty have been in with this lens. Your sandwiches will be fine too. I had to take lunch, dinner and snacks for a 4 year old to the park on several occasions and never had a problem. Just don't take more than 100ml liquids as you'll be made to pour it away it drink it...

I need something wider than my 50mm 1.8 (£500 budget)

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice and recommendations people gave. I managed to capture this with the Sigma 30mm at 11pm hand held on my 30D. 20120804-Olympic Park Orbit-033 by Tony L Butcher, on Flickr

I have only been using Flickr Pro for a short time, but this is #1 with 20 views since yesterday. Athletics_Long Jump_-009 by Tony L Butcher, on Flickr

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

It was probably written by Inkiboo, seeing as they were wrong about all the pre-games warnings. Maybe having one last attempt at scaremongering. Locog have enough proper problems with ticketing and sportsmanship to worry about cameras. British forces on the security gates has been a cracking...

It's good to see some normality return after the scaremongering. I'm buzzing with excitement, bring on Friday. First events are on Monday. Batteries are charged, memory cards are empty. Yay

The accusation wasn't against you, it was against LOGOC.(oh, actually it might have been :( which would be a shame) I.E. saying they'll let in sub 30cm gear and then confiscating it. You're just offering opinion, which is very welcome. A lot of the points being raised I hadn't thought about...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

I think we all fall into one of 3 categories here: 1. Take nothing and spectate 2. Take compact camera P&S with a decent zoom 3. Take a dslr with lens which fits the guidelines as laid out by LOGOC. I'll be starting at 3 and working my way down!! My downside if stopped and denied entry is a...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

Not sure peeps have read the whole thread. I'm going with a 30D and then the 70-300 1st week and the 70-200 the 2nd. It easily fits into the bag size and I chose them because they are very compact. I probably won't use the hood either. I'm not ignoring the advice (hence picking the lenses...

I'm not sure I live on the same planet as you. Next time I want a break from reality I'll come visit. This is the Olympics, not Fort Knox.

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

I'm taking the risk, I love this hobby too much to miss this opportunity. I'm not sure how I can help my young kids remember the experience without having pictures to cement the memories. Seeing as I don't have a P&S, plus my 4 year old loves taking photos on "Daddies Camera". Its a risk worth...

I think he was just being friendly in the face of all this confusion. I don't think it was a case of "come and see brad, I'll get you in!"

True. Tbh, I'm just taking the kit I feel is appropriate. One body, one zoom lens, extra card and batteries. No flash. If either the G4S teenagers or stand in military have a massive problem. ... I'll just start crying!! (probably just let me through then!!) Seriously, I basically don't...

I need something wider than my 50mm 1.8 (£500 budget)

Well this is what I have picked up off the forum. I can't wait to get home and have a play about. I have put my 28-105mm up for sale, as I can't see myself ever picking this up again with the 30mm, 50mm and 55-250mm in the bag. I just need to save up for a 70-200 2.8 L IS, then I'm sorted!

I need something wider than my 50mm 1.8 (£500 budget)

Sadly whom, I will resist your attempts to launch me into FF. Instead I have news of a WANTED thread which has begun by looking for either a 17-50mm or a 28mm 1.8 so if you know someone who is looking to get rid, please point them in the direction of the thread. Thanks. In an ideal world I'll...
