If you are wanting to get into a specific field I would suggest a taught masters rather as it will get you further.
Positions for geologists are rare at the moment due to the current climate. Geotechs being laid off and not much hiring in the oil industry.

I have looked on the London Eye site and can only find that tripods are not allowed on the eye...unless agreed with the press office. Perhaps you could contact them and clear any ambiguity up.

I have almost completed level two and have found it a great course but it all depends on how much you know. Even if you have little SLR knowledge I would skip level one, I did and did not feel left behind.
For the cost I would recomend doing it - at worst you will meet like minded people...
