At 5 months old, for her single shots, I would just lay her down on a nice fluffy rug or blanket and shoot from above or the side - no need for them to be propped up or held by mum. You can lay her down beside her big brother, one of them with their feet at 6, the other with their feet at 12...

Thanks for all your suggestions - I think I am going to go for some new lenses first and see how we get on before investing a new camera body

I'm only using the kit lens at the moment - so I probably need new lenses rather than need a new camera....but since I am going to be using it a lot, and will have to last me for the foreseeable, I thought I'd go the whole hog with a new body as well

Thank you - my head is still spinning trying to make a decision. If I got a 60d and the 17-55, what other lenses would compliment that? What about for the newborn photography - will a 50mm suit best?

No lenses so no restrictions there. I think I will have to go to a camera shop to manhandled a few....this camera will be it for a while so want to get the choice right
