I use Genie exclusively when I shoot film these days, my local lab have taken to returning negs with fingerprints and copious amounts of dust, complete amateurs. Genie are very resonably priced in my opinion and can thoroughly reccomend their professionalism.
Nice article... but don't fall into the trap that Getty, istock and the like are setting. These agencies have such a narrow view of what a photograph should look like and have such a universal influence in terms of media usage that we are constantly bombarded with the "stock" look. I shot stock...

Avoid the cheaper chinese ones unless you are willing to faff a bit with them. I've had a fair amount of success with them, but I'd never trust them enough to do anything important!
Correcting flash to street lamp temperature can be a nightmare, as the temperature radically changes as the bulb ages (I recall they used to go a pinky red in the past as they got to the end of their life). Make sure you've got a few varying strength gels so you can experiment and get it right...
The unfortunate truth is that theres no cheap route into studio flash. Every ebay only unit I have seen has had some form of crippling limitation that ultimately renderes them useless.
I have heard good things about the cheaper interfit stuff (though the specs are not particulalry impressive)...
