Hello!
I've just bought a new lens (Sigma 50-500), and I'm really keen to get a proper shoulder sling strap, but there seems to be so much choice and I'm just not sure what would be best.
Can anyone recommend any particular brand?
Ta,
Ant
It's a question of what's an acceptable level of sharpness for you?
I've recently just bought a 50mm Mk2 f/1.8 and was pretty disappointed with the results at f/1.8... then I remembered that it was a 75 quid lens and stopped grumbling. At f/2.0 and f/2.8 it's pretty sharp - certainly enough so...
Thanks Dave - I hadn't really considered all of that.
I'll have to find some time to play around with this... This working marlarkey really gets in the way of my photography!
I bought my 60D from them just before Christmas - amazing price and amazingly quick shipping - I ordered on Friday afternoon and it was in my hands by 10am on Monday.
Interesting thread!
I generally tend to switch the AF point and use that for most shots.
For wildlife I tend to use the centre-point with continuous AF - but having read this thread I may switch!
I've never thought of using the back-button for focusing - what would be the benefit of doing so?
Very jealous... I did a trip from San Francisco out to St George in Utah a few years ago - it was brill.
Try and see if you can fit in a trip to Mono Lake (also worth checking out the fish tacos at Whoa Nellie Deli while you're there!)
I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm not in any way shape or form qualified to comment on this, but my general observation with wedding photography if you're going solo is that it would be very useful to have a second body with a zoom on it if you're shooting with a prime.
Good luck...
@tdodd Thanks for that very comprehensive reply, Tim. Much appreciated - that really helped to fill in some gaps in my knowledge and has given me some ideas of how to progress with this - interestingly I think this will also apply to wildlife photography too - some shots of darker coloured birds...
Thanks for the advice chaps.
I think the use of a grey card, although I'm sure is the correct way, would be slightly tricky as they're fairly fast moving little buggers. Hadn't thought of bracketing - I'll have a play around!
