I have a bunch of maplin 2500mah ones. They work pretty well.

I've always kept a decent quality UV filter on, unless I'm using another filter.

My 10-22 came with both caps but no hood. It's pretty light and I never thought to use a tripod mount. No damage done.

+1 for the Kata 3n1. It might look too much like a camera bag for your taste but it's really comfortable in the "x" configuration as it supports across your chest as well as shoulders.

Kata 3n1 bag. Lots of room, don't need to put it down and it's surprisingly comfy too!
