    Urban Photo Lens.

Hi Gerrard! I'm shooting Nikon so I'm not familiar with Canon lenses... but if I have to guess a 28mm prime would be very good for the type of work you want to accomplish. On a crop sensor 28mm translates to a real NORMAL lens and I enjoy very much to use an old MF Nikkor 28/2 AI-S as a...

Best lens line up for crop sensor?

    I'd like a lightweight kit like: Nikon 10-24 Nikon 35/1.8 Sigma 50-150/2.8 + TC

Thinking of switching from Nikon to Canon...

I shoot now with a combo of D700 / D7000. I can't say that I prefer more the images from D700 than those from D7000... Both are stunning performers. Depending on the situation I may prefer one over the other body. If I'd be in your shoes, especially because you said that you do not use so...

    Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZF vrs Nikon 85 1.4?

Try first Sigma. You can save a lot for the same IQ and faster AF.

    Sigma 150mm macro

I have the non-OS version. It is a great lens and while I'm not doing a lot of macro work it is a perfect telephoto for me. If you use the focus limitation switch then the AF speed is OK.

    Wedding Photography - equipment

I'm not a wedding photographer... usually I shoot corporate events and concerts in available light. I love to do this with fast primes. Recently I went to my niece's wedding... I was not the main photographer but I took some equipment with me to take my own pictures. After debating in my head...

    Travelling Europe.

I'd take 50/1.8 as well for low light situations. Also if you do not have a laptop with plenty HDD free space you will need many CF cards with you. Don't forget a good polarizer (CPL) and if you can make space a little table tripod could help a lot. My advice: do not try to go in too many...

    A Standard Portrait Lens

A nice portrait lens available used for not so much money is Nikkor 105/2.5 AI-S. If AF is a must, Tamron 60/2 macro is an interesting option for APS-C. If money are not a problem the new Sigma 85/1.4 is IMHO one of the best portrait lens available.

    Nikon 85mm 1.4G or Sigma 85mm 1.4 HSM?

I ordered Nikon 85G and I was unhappy with the copy I've received. The AF was slow and I didn't like the IQ wide open. I sent it back and ordered Sigma 85/1.4. It was a huge surprise for me, in a good way. Better AF (oh, yeah, that's true!) and the IQ is amazing. I love the skin rendering of...

Prime vs Zoom - what to do

Hi James, I went on the same path... starting with the Holy Trinity. Later I developed a great kit of primes. My best kit is 24/1.4, 35/2 Zeiss and Nikon, 85/1.4 SIgma and 180/2.8 Nikkor. I use the combo 24 and 85 for 75% of what I shoot and I could not be happier. I still keep the Trinity of...

tamron 28-75 2.8 yes or no?

Definitely yes! It is a lens with a nice character... It stays always in my bag when I travelling.

    Nikon choice...

Going for two different systems is not the best idea on long term... You can upgrade to D5100 or D7000 and you improve significantly IQ of photo & video.

    Nikon (compatible) Lens for Concerts

Hi Mariusz, For this kind of work don't replace your D5000 with D300... you better look for a camera with a superior approach at low light. A D700 or a D7000 is a much better option... or the newer D5100 but this one does not have AF motor, being similar with D5000 at this point. Regarding...

Alternative to Nikon 24-120 VR f4

Well, 5.6 is at 300mm... you can think at this part as a bonus :) If I have to guess... at 120mm is probably f4.5 The real thing you are loosing are the 4mm on the wide part which could be important sometimes... LE: So in fact you get a 28-120 f/3.5-4.5 and as a bonus 120-300 f/4.5-5.6 What is...
