thx duncan - I didn't know about the size of the green square yet. And I usually tried to find an alternative focus point as you suggested and recomposed the shot. As I shoot nearly all the time in stealth mode I am having a hard time with the focus sound :bonk:
@Lindsay D: thanks for the...
Just some feedback on the camera after a 7 week trip to NZ. I had the x10 with me all the time and there were many days, when the DSLR just stayed in it's backpack. The x10 worked beautifully - though I sometimes had to change the battery 2 times a day.
My only concern still is the autofocus...
I really do love my X10. So far I can live with the orbs but there is one other thing that troubles me a bit: quite often the autofocus needs several attempts to lock on.
Anybody else having that problem? I'm in AF-S mode.
It is 10mm and doesn't distract from anything.
For me it makes it easier to press the button - I get a better feel for it. I can imagine that for people with larger hands than mine it might improve the handling even more.
To be honest, for the first few times I didn't know what to do - look through the viewfinder or use the screen. But as I see the X10 basically as a point and shoot cam I now stick with the screen. I rarely use the viewfinder now and it doesn't bother me - I am fine with the screen even in bright...
I really do love this little camera. Was in Venice last weekend and there were some nice results among my shots. And I did get a few blob-tastic orb-shots. But only during on some nighttime shots with lamps reflecting off the water.
All images processed in LR - b/w, sharpening and exposure +...
just realised today that I seem to have bought another camera altogether. At least that is what the strap says...
Guess I've got the only x100 with a zoom-lens
I did it! Just came back from my local shop where I couldn't resist picking one up. :D
Thanks to everybody - especially Duncan  - for giving the little cam such a good forum. Looking forward to a first testing this weekend.
The big test will be in two weeks time when I'm in Venice...
completely agree on the outer points. They're just not working in low light. But I've done a few weddings and parties with my 5D II and my 70-200 4.0 and never ran into serious trouble because of the focus points.
Action shots however are not really the strong side of the 5D - also because...
and now I've got a call from another dealer, who is selling his range of rental lenses:
24-70 2.8 at EUR 550,- (and he's got 4 of them).
I guess I'll check those out - although I'm not so sure about used rental lenses. If it was a former rental car I'd never buy it.
looking forward to see if there will be any difference...
But I guess those who want to see orbs will still be able to produce them :bonk:
Anyway I am still looking forward to getting the X10.
I will check tomorrow - I've found a site that explains the code and that should help me with that.
Regarding warranty: he is selling it for a private seller (on commission), so there is no warranty but he told me that I would get my money back if I returnded it within 2 weeks and there was a...
