How far do you travel for your landscape photography?

I'm happy to travel wherever, if I can sleep before or immediately after a long journey - great. Based in the NE of England I'm pretty much spoilt for choice - in fairly close proximity is Northumberland, Yorkshire and the Lake District. Just beyond that is Scotland and Wales and it doesn't...

    Simon Baxter/ Mark Littlejohn trees

I’ve not looked around there, no - thanks for the suggestion.

    Simon Baxter/ Mark Littlejohn trees

I’m a huge Mark Littlejohn fan - from his satirical outlook to his locations and processing. I’ve been looking for gnarled and grizzly trees for ages, I’ve tried Cod Beck Reservoir near Northallerton, the moors north of Rivaleaux Abbey and Isthmus Bay and Hodge Close quarry in the lakes but...

    Sharpening

Hi all, I'm looking back at my editing workflow and doing a search online to check how others are working. A question that has came up is about applying sharpening in ACR in regards to any additional sharpening with Nik Effects. For example, should I leave the sharpness settings as default in...

    Landscape technique and processing

Sorry - I've still not been receiving notifications about replies, I've not been ignoring! Thanks for all the feedback, plenty of things to consider and work through. I'd definitely agree that there is a bit too much contrast going on - I've tried to edge away from this at times but feel i...

    Landscape technique and processing

I'm really looking to up my game, learn a bit more and try to develop more of a personal style. Pretty much all of what I shoot is landscapes and I've recently been looking at Luminosity Masks to help me draw more detail out from my Images. The fundamental problem is that I'm not really sure...

    Workshop Landscape retouching course

Hi, I'm looking to see if anyone can recommend an online or physical 1-to-1 retouching course that relates to Landscape photography. I've seen Serge Ramelli's courses, but his style is a little too bold for my liking - I've followed him a lot on YouTube but it's not working too well for me...

Opening multiple images as layers. Can It be done?

I often use --> File--> Automate --> Photomerge--> [leave auto on and deselect 'blend images together] and then select images. You can then use -->image -->auto align images --> auto blend images, for example - if youve some focus stacked images. Hope this helps!

What's so good about these images?

Perhaps it's because there's a parallel with those images being processed in such a way that they are similar to editorial type images, so you're already a bit more receptive to them? Their subject content and lighting is really dynamic - personally I find macro images really interesting as its...

ND Filter system advice - 550D/ Sigma 18-250

Hi everyone - first post! Want to say hi and thanks in advance to anyone that is able to offer any advice wherever possible - as my knowledge grows I shall indeed pay it forward! Right then... I've got a Canon 550D and my main lens is a Sigma 18-250 (72mm filter size) although I also...
