I use Time Machine to backup an external drive as well, when it's setup all you do is remove it from the exclusions list. It also doesn't seem to bother it if it backs up and the external drive isn't attached - the files stay on the backup drive and it carries on backing them up when the hard...

I use Time Machine to backup all my files to an external drive. Then on top of that I use Mozy as well. Having an off-site backup is one of the most important things or you're still vulnerable to fire/theft.

I personally upload everything. The first backup took a long time but it just runs in the background and doesn't interfere with using the computer at all. If things start getting a little slow you can even tell the software to use less of the upload bandwidth to keep everything else running...

I use Mozy.com at $4.95 a month for unlimited space (discounts available for 1year etc... also). I use these because of their Apple Mac compatibility. Their software also allows you to set your own encryption key (448bit encryption IIRC), so other people don't have access to your files at...
