The 17-55mm f/2.8 IS is the reason I keep a crop body as well as my 5D - superb lens, and perhaps the most versatile for indoor people shots as well as a general walkaround. It's very seldom off my 50D :)
You're spoilt for choice :) - lots of waterfalls, Llangollen, Horseshoe Pass, Harlech (nearby Llandanwg is great for sunsets), Lake Vyrnwy...the slate mines...loads to do..:D:D....one of my favourite parts of the world :love:
50D/17-55 is a great combo, for indoor family stuff, but also as a general walkaround. There's one for a sale (at a good price, I think) at AVForums currently (not mine). I would suggest getting more glass and sticking with the crop body for now :)
Lots of good comments here. I find I don't use the nifty often, but when I do, I always smile at the results. Yes, it looks a bit comical on a 5D with a grip :lol:, but the DoF is fun to play with, and the sharpness is fabulous for a £70 lens. Great piece of glass of unobtrusive indoor shooting...
