Are you intending to use it on a full or crop frame? Om my 5d mk2 it's brilliant for portraits, but then so is my 100mm macro, 70-200 zoom...... It often depends upon the circumstances (available space and light) and the subject but you won't go far wrong with the 85 in my humble opinion.

The key light 580EX was in a soft-box on the left and the reflector on the right each about 2 feet from subject. I was trying to blow out the rear wall to make it look like it was taken against a studio white backdrop. Practice, practice;)

Coupled with my 580EX it works very well. It's also robust so good for outdoor work.

Very easy to use, so far it seems to be drying to the same matt finish as the body I'll see how it dries fully and report again. Only problem is I managed to order two on Amazon and I think one could repaint several whole bodies!!
