If you dislike this feature it can be turned off by going into the custom functions menu and selecting af flash emits and changing it to does not emit. Hope this helps

Don't worry, I was the same, but you will soon learn. It is the size of the sensor which will change the affective zoom of your lens. Ie a 18-250 lens would be 29-400 on a 400D. (1.6x Crop)

Just wondering if you have bought the 400D yet, as if you look on the bay you may be able to get a 400D (with Kit Lens) for under £300 in the film section if you know what i mean ;).
