Do you not have anyone that could hold a reflector high behind you so you can bounce it off that and soften the light.

As hoppy said.. Velcro or hair bands. I'm sure nobody goes up to your flashes to analyse how you've attached a trigger to it so they can judge your professionalism. It's the light that counts.
