    mini studio - table top

:agree: What he said. If you're on a budget then making a mini studio is a much better option. I made one for around a tenner.

A trip to Rome, equipment and backpack advice please.

I took this lens with me to Rome. It barely left my camera.

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

Just thought I would add my bit here. I'm in an event at the moment (rowing) and I got through no problems at all with my Nikon d5000, kit lens, 55-200 and 35mm in a crumpler pretty boy 5500. Not exactly pro quality equipment but I hope this helps.

Off to explore&photograph Rome! Any suggestions?

I don't know about the the Basilica itself because I didn't get a chance to go in there (I went on a Wednesday, same day as the Popes address), but it's fine to take photos inside most parts of the Vatican museum. Inside the Sistine chapel, they tell you to put the camera away pretty much as...

    Longleat - worth a visit?

I've been there twice. It's one of the better safari parks to visit with a camera. Bit of advice. If you get there early, do the walkaround first then the drive second. There will be less cars that way. If you enjoy and want to go again. For my birthday last year, my other half took me on their...

    Nikon D800......

In my defence, I did post this from the android app which doesn't show stickies in the same list as the other threads. D800 does look good but way out of my league. (in price and skill)

Big Names that have gone bust over last 4 years!

I worked at Borders bookshop before being made redundant and the company closing down on Christmas eve 2009. That was a pretty big closure that made news.

    Walking boots/shoes?!

As someone who sells walking boots on a daily basis. The best advice I can give you is; go into a outdoor retail store and ask for their advice and a get a proper fitting. The wrong pair of boots can be very damaging to your feet, not to mention a fair bit of money wasted. Avoid places like...

    First tripod

I'm sure plenty of people will recommend one in future posts, but take a look at what you need it for. Do you want a heavy/sturdy tripod that can take a bit of a beating? Or would you prefer a lighter tripod that's easier to carry around and travel with. Think about what features you want...

    50mm 1.8D

Have a look at eBay. That'll give you a rough idea. I got mine for around £90, but that was a while ago. You can probably get one for cheaper now.

Locations in the Portsmouth area, night photography

It's been over 10 years since I lived in Portsmouth, but I always found the old Portsmouth/spice island part of pompey very photogenic.

    Crashing Satellite

1 in 3200 chance of being hit by a satellite falling from the sky. 1 in 14 million chance of winning the lottery. I know which one my luck is more likely to get.
