Thanks again for all your input, the above photos were take handheld with the image set to RAW. I know there are better compact cameras around but I wanted something that I can take anywhere including the beach, pool, mountain biking etc. I'll just have to experiment to get the best out of it...

I've done some more experimenting and set in manual mode the results are much better 100% crop

Thanks for the comments and advise everyone, I'm not expecting quality similar to my Lumix G6, but was hoping for better quality than my 6 year old Canon IXUS 860IS, which this camera is to replace. I know the tough cameras compromise on IQ but all the reviews led me to believe the TG-4 was one...

Just purchased an Olympus TG-4 and took some shots with it this weekend and I'm shocked at the quality. Even at fairly low ISO the images are oil painting like at 100% Am I expecting too much

I took a few more shorts last night and the problem is worse when zoomed right out, if I zoom in fully it's pretty much fine. Chris, thanks for the offer I'll see what I could organise.

I've just purchased a 2nd hand 860is and a couple of quick shots show there is a serious focus issue with only a small part of the image in focus the rest getting more blurred as you get to the edge of the image. It was sold as a spares or repair so was cheap. Just wondered if this was a...

Bought a 70-200 F4 IS a little while ago and am blown away by its quality, only problem is it makes all my other lenses (not that I have a lot) look quite rubish. Quick shot while I was just messing around, the sharpness of the lens just blows me away!

I've started to get into this photo malarkey and have now started taking my photos in RAW and JPG (setting on 40D). 1st is there any point doing this or should I just take them in RAW. 2nd As I have both formats of some photos at the moment do I keep both or just keep the RAW and delete...

I have recently purchased a 580EX II and would like to play around with multiple and off camera flashes, but don't want to spend another £300+ on another flash. What would be a good flash to get bearing in mind it will never be mounted on my Canon and must be controlled by the 580 EX II Cheers
