Got my eye on a Hoya one

I'm brand new with a brand new D3100. It comes with the kit 18-55mm VR lens. One of the reasons I decided on a DSLR was I spend alot of time in the mountains. So, could you give me some pointers as to which lens would suit landscape shots? Nothing too expensive... Cheers

Just paid for my first DSLR, a D3100. Alot of my pics will be outdoors of mountains etc. I've been advised to get a couple of filters to screw onto the end of the lens. I've watched a few YouTube vids and understand why I need them, but which ones do I get? I'm guessing I avoid the cheap ones...

Really? I'm new to all this mullarkey and was told Nikon are better at video capture
