Help needed on buying a tablet - Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab2 etc ....

First decision is whether you want a 10" or 7" device - it may not sound like much, but in my opinion the difference is very significant. The screen area for a 10 inch device is about double the screen area of a 7 inch device. Just to confuse things, apple are expected to launch an ipad...

Yes you are quite correct. However, as someone who works regularly with people in other time zones, when people generally say GMT, they mean the time in London.

    Downgrade Dslr to micro 4/3?

I've just been through this thinking myself. I had a k-x with the kit lenses 18-55 and 55-300 and found that even that was a nuisance to carry on days out with the kids at theme parks etc. I was considering getting something like a g3 (or even a used gh2) with a 14-140 as a 'do-it-all' option...

    Best time to buy kit?

£399 seems to be the going rate for the body and 18-55 lens. The twin lens kits are probably even better value if you have the extra cash. I got a 2 lens kit (18-55 and 55-300) for £530 but you can get the smaller zoom twin kit (18-55 & 50-200) for £450 from currys or dixons.

    2 Cameras, which one?

If you're thinking of spending £399 on the canon and then going out and buying another lens - why not just get the k-x twin lens kit mentioned about for £450?

    2 Cameras, which one?

I narrowed my choice down to 3-4 options based on specs and reviews. Then went into a shop and handled the cameras on my short list and bought the one that felt the best to me. Not too complex a process and a lot like the way I buy other things really.

You're asking someone who just considered the D3000, 1000D, and K-x and bought the K-x.

    2 Cameras, which one?

When I read that I was getting a bit flustered, as I just paid about £530 for the twin lens kit. But mine came with the 55-300 instead of the 55-200. Still a great deal for what is the "Best Entry-level DSLR of the Year 2010" according to TIPA...

    2 Cameras, which one?

Pixmania have the D3000 in stock for £329 - if you're happy with the camera, why not buy online? If you've looked at the sony and didn't like it, don't buy it - you'll regret it. The k-x is a great camera, but costs a bit more. Otherwise, see if jessops will lend you something for you holidays?
