I think you will find that for most of the Canon Bodies, auto focus stops working with the 2x extender altogether. It's only the 1Ds etc that it continues to work with.
This isn't a problem with some subjects but for for sports it's pretty pointless.
correct me if I'm wrong, but the 1.6 or 1.3 crop does not give any further 'reach' on a lens. The smaller sensor effectively crops the image it doesn't extend the length of the lens.... it a crop not a magnification.

Hi I removed the colour on this one except the front wing and number '1'.
It was used on a stand at the Autosport show in Germany a couple of years ago because the company thought it was a bit different from the normal F1 pictures :shrug:

I took this at the British Grand Prix last year using my 100-400
The exif shows 400mm, 1/800 at f5.6. (IS in mode 2). I think it's pretty sharp bearing in mind the speed and distance from the subject (not to mention my camera shake :'().

I'm going to the Rallye Sunseeker (in the New Forest) for the first time in a few weeks and was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on the best locations for photography.
I've never been to a rally before so any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Very good effort for a first site.
Only a couple of suggestions, the Magenta header a possibly a bit too bright and personally I prefere a font such as Tahoma, Verdana or Arial as they tend to be a bit easier to read.
