Got a Panasonic Lumix LS80 that I picked up on the cheap, mostly used for social gatherings and the like. I wouldn't mind an LX3 to fill in the gap between compact and DSLR, but I'm pretty sure I won't use it as much as I'd like.

Which internet browser do you use? If it's just pop ups most browsers these days do a good job of stopping those. Have you tried using another internet browser and seeing if it still happens?

When it comes to Macs if you absolutely, desperately must have it now then go out and buy it. You won't be disappointed, after all you'll be buying a superb machine. But if it's not a desperate purchase and you don't mind waiting, then wait until an update and then buy one.

If you're not confident about building a PC... probably best to leave that option out. For that budget I'd go for a Dell, they're Studio range would fit the bill nicely. Or pay the premium for the iMac but I think they're due for an update (at least, according to MacRumors). As always with Macs...

I think you need to consider where do you think this hobby will take you. If you think further down the line you'll be taking photography more seriously then the 350D would be a good starting point. Otherwise the LX3 is a fantastic compact to get stuck in with.

Nicely done, enjoy it! Building your own is the way to go :) Although the case is a bit tacky for my tastes :p A next step is like MikeeB said and perhaps tidy up your wiring seeing as you have a side window. Time to grab some cable ties and go wild :D
