    Indeed, I hope so! But I'll keep trying. Strangely the flash sometimes fires by itself, I think there's perhaps a dodgy connection somewhere. I thought I'd at least get the flash to fire when taking a picture!

    I was aware of using the flash in manual, but I also thought the entire purpose of the Wein device was to allow the flash and camera to communicate, without risk to the electronics?

    I purchased the card from Amazon, and according to various sources it does appear to be genuine. Turning off active d-lighting does indeed double the camera's buffer size, so I have a maximum of 8 JPEGs. Still far less than the quoted 100! Perhaps there are other factors to take into account?
