    which black rapid strap

I use the RS-7 with 100-400/7D no problem at all - just watch out you don't knock/hit anything with the lens dangling by your hip...

Sandisk CF card failures - ever had one?

Use SanDisk Extreme exclusively now - 4Gb & 8Gb currently - never had one fail, and always reformat in camera prior to use...

    Camera Strap Recommendations?

I recently switched to the Black Rapid RS-7 (via Amazon) when I had originally been using a standard Optech strap. Really happy with it - feels a lot safer than an 'ordinary' strap, even with a 100-400mm attached.. Three small caveats though - I usually place the strap over my right shoulder...

Holidays, hand baggage allowance not good

Flown with Thomas Cook on a number of occasions to Canada - dire/ridiculous size and weight (5kg) restrictions re hand luggage - however have never been checked - just made sure camera bag didn't appear too large (or heavy) even though it was well over the weight limit... Having said that -...

Heads up: 2TB external usb2 drive for 56.80 delivered.

Yes - I agree - good value and really only suitable as backup (as per the OP post) although there are other options - I use both a NAS (network assisted storage) box, and, a cheaper/much faster, Sumvision eSATA HD docking station that has SATA and USB interfacing (has CF/SD card slots). Just...

    Sigma 150-500mm

I have both the Sigma 10-20mm and the Canon 24-105mm - I have had great results with both; essentially very nice lenses in my opinion. However I also have the 15mm-85mm which I use on the 7D, which might be a better choice for you due to the crop sensor, and confine the 24-105mm to my 5D -...

    5D Mk 1 - Thoughts?

Love my Mk1 - stonking camera. Have it paired with the 24-105mm most of the time - great combination. Would take a lot to make me part with it...

    Coastal Holiday Ideas

Having extolled the wonders of the Pembrokeshire coast thought I had better back it up with some images... Gateholm Island with Skokholm Island in the background. Surprised I managed anything usable that day - the picture of tranquility masks the intense buffeting winds and attempts to...

    The Formula 1 Thread

Just found this thread - thanks for starting it Dave... Have to add my own feelings of total incredulity when MB/DC mentioned that tyre changes would be allowed during the red flag period - initially I think they were unsure/disbelieving of the rules until receiving confirmation...
