    Damn... hands tied

Agreed Darren!! I have numerous saved searches for 'stuff' beit private interest like photography or business equipment etc. IT's just that you never know... and now and again, this happens, something comes up, and I can't move. BUT I won't cancel the searches because it always pays off...

    Damn... hands tied

On our local New Zealand trading site, there was a 5D mk11 with 16-35 f2.8 sell WAY cheap. The auction closed at $1850 NZD Now to put things into perspective for you guys, a mint second hand original 5D still go for $2000-2500. A (rare) second hand mk11 still pulls $3500. New near $4k...

What would you do with the money?

Hey Kevin, have you considered other options? Like is this a money maker for you or just a hobby? If you earn through it, what is the business/advertising end of this up to? Could you split the funds and part spend on glass and part on advertising/marketing/business development? Of course...

Camera for a 12 year old. Which one?

I'm facing the same situation with my much younger daughter. I've chosen to go with a compact at this stage, and if she can show herself responsible, and show she WANTS to pursue phototography then I'll spend more and get her a baby 2nd hand Dslr. Make him earn it and earn your respect to...

    Dumb question

Hi, if I put a 50mm F1.2 lens on my 10D, factoring in the 1.6 crop, I end up with an effective 80mm. Question, does the 1.6 multiplier apply to the 1.2 as well making it 1.92? Thanks, John

    28-70 F2.8L or 24-105 F4L

That extra weight could be a concern for tramping (I don't know what you call that in the UK, but downunder a bush walk or hike into the mountains is a tramp) Last year we went on a 4 day tramp and weight is crucial. Every gram matters. In fact, usually I'd only look at carrying one lens...

    28-70 F2.8L or 24-105 F4L

Interesting you should say that Anorakus, I've been thinking of getting a 50mm f 1.4 for my inside carpet work. I have a fairly steady hand so that almost dilutes the IS arguement, but I did appreciate the extra focal length when I went from the 28-70 up to teh 28-135. At this stage, I'm...

    28-70 F2.8L or 24-105 F4L

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: Would I realistically notice the difference between 2.8 and 4.0 to be able to get a more zoom? John

    28-70 F2.8L or 24-105 F4L

I've had L series in the past and still use a 17-35 F2.8L. About 10 years ago, I sold my 70-200 F2.8L and also my 28-70 F2.8L I loved both units, but ended up selling it during a business venture start up to free up some cash. I replaced them with the 28-135 USM that was fairly new to the...

    Capturing carpet shots

Hi James, I'm ok with the 10D at this stage. I do need a macro for smaller work. I don't have off flash ability (yet) but any flash, direct or bounced just kills any variations in texture which is what I'm trying to capture with teh low/side/natural lightling. The shots are two fold...
