    What Lens?!

I second that. The 50-500 is a superb lens. Maybe you can consider also the 70-300 as you can find them a little cheaper second hand.

    £500

If I were you I would check second hand market. I can recomend apertureuk.com and mifsuds.com. I've bought from them and they were great. Sometimes you have to be patient to get the best deal as they fly as they arrive. As for the camera I would recomend Canon or Nikon. These are the 2 brands...

    Best Canon Lenses

In terms of price / quality I think both 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 are top notch.

    Backpack recommendation?

Over the years I've had several bags, and from all I kept 3: Flipside 300 when I want to take more than 2 lenses and flashes. Very confortable and easy to open and change lenses while walking http://products.lowepro.com/product/Flipside-300,2083,14.htm National Geographic NG2345 for when...

    Oldest digicam you have?

Mine was a HP PhotoSmart 315. It was a package with a printer included! :) It costed me around 600 euros in 2000. Probably the camera I shot the most.

    Good Tripod for Travel

I have a manfrotto tripod that I carry inside my hand luggage bag and never had any problems with it. I'm flying every 2 weeks to different places in Europe, and that I remember, I only have to open the bag 2 or 3 times to show it. Not sure if the security is more tight where you are flying...

Well, I've gone and done it!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the camera. But now prepare to start spending ... it's an addiction. You first go on denial: "No, I won't buy more than 2 lenses...". 3 months later you have wide, tele, macro, extension tubes, filters, flash, tripod, etc. :)

    Panasonic Lumix LX5

Yes Simon. That's what I was thinking... with a camera this good, you will leave the heavy stuff at home... That's not good when you look to the investment done and left in the bag at home. :)

I may regret starting this one

I would say it all counts, but having the best kit and not knowing how to use it, I'm sure you won't get any good photo. So in my opinion it's 50% know how, 10% kit and 40% of hard work. Always learning, always trying new things, never give up. These are my 5 cents. :)

    50mm f1.8

My 50mm 1.8 is most of the time on my camera indoors. Small, cheap and incredibly sharp. You can't go wrong. Harry: This chart is spot on. Thanks

Is there a special site/place you like to visit to get some inspiration from? Where do you get your inspiration and ideas from when it comes to light? I’m really into portrait and maternity photography and when I need some inspiration I like to visit: http://www.zackarias.com/...

advice needed no studio lighting kit ? ?

I think you can buy Alien bee from the Australian website. They ship to Europe. The problem is that the costs are much higher then in the US. Check the Alien bee website. There's a link to the European customers.
