    Flower ID Request

Hi all, [sorry if this is in the wrong section?] I was wondering if any flower experts would help me identify the flower in this photo. I was told possibly Tiger Lily or Orange Pixie Lily? Any help would be much appreciated. Also, where best to pick one or two up? Florist/supermarket...

Peter: I meant to comment on those photos when you first posted them/when I saw them. They're amazing, thanks for posting them - I love the first with the train. :) Cheers.

    Good locations in cornwall

Good point, I forgot about the weather/season. I agree about Trebah, a very nice location and indeed with a beach at the bottom! :)

Nikon D700 tell me about it

Sorry, I meant why would it not be your 'first port of call'. Cheers for the answer. Do you still have the D700 as well as the Sonys? :) :D

Which part are you staying at, then we can be more specific? The Lost Gardens of Heligan is quite interesting as mentioned.

Nikon D700 tell me about it

Just curious as to why you wouldn't use the D700 for landscapes? Is it because of the lower megapixel count compared with the 5D MK II for example? The 14-24 looks like a beast! I can see why it doesn't take filters. Cheers :)

    D300 or D700

I believe the D700 will crop automatically when a DX lens is mounted. The resolution reduces to about 5mp - some prefer to crop in post processing (the setting can be disabled). :)

Will RAW help reduce ISO noise?

    Olympus E1? :) ISO 100 - 800. (1600 - 3200 ISO BOOST).

Will RAW help reduce ISO noise?

You could process your files with noise reduction programs such as Noise Ninja or Noiseware to reduce the presence of noise in your photographs. :) I think it's best not to overdo the noise reduction, otherwise detail will be lost. Edit: just too slow!
