    Replacement for 24-105 F4?

Just had a call from my brother, and my trusty old 24-105 F4 has developed a constant "Error 01." :( With a smattering of man maths, and hiding my credit card bill from the mrs this could result in a new lens. Is there a good upgrade for the 24-105? I use it extensively on my 5d and 1D3 as my...

    Lens hire

+1 for lenses for hire. Even better if you can collect as the Italian deli does a great coffee! Just about to book another lens from them. J

Bristol Cameras - Yes or No

Same experience as many others here. I ordered a tripod head online that was listed as in stock, they took payment immediately and then took weeks and many chases to find out they were waiting for stock and it had arrived that day. Another week or so for delivery. Didn't have time back them but...

    Bristol Cameras Promlem?

I had similar issues with them, took an age for them to deliver a tripod head which they took the money for at time of order. Might be worth a letter to trading standards, don't think thy are supposed to take full payment for an item which isn't in stock. J

    Compact with viewfinder?

A friend is looking to introduce her mum to digital cameras. She is in her 70's and the biggest technophobe I've ever met. Won't even use a credit card, always cash! The biggest stipulation is that it has an optical viewfinder, the next is that it is simple to use, discounting bridge cameras...

    Car as a hide

My FIL uses his old car as a hide on his farm. Apparently if you shoot one bird with a shotgun from it, you can just park the car in the field and the birds stay off his seed for a week or two! J

    £1000 mistake?

I've got an old sigma 70-200 that i got new about 7 years ago, it was my first proper lens for motorsport. It still lives in my bag now. A little short for bikes, so i ended up adding a 100-300 f4 to my bag when i got a bit more serious. But its a good little thing! £1000 seams a little...

Adjusting aperture settings in M mode

What lens are you using? If you have one of the cheap mirror lenses they have a maximum aperture of f8 or even smaller. J

    Bristol Cameras

I ordered a tripod head that was listed as in stock. They took the money, after a few days of my order sitting at a status of 'downloaded' I called them. took about 5 calls to get someone to pick up. Then they had to hunt around for the right guy. When I was eventually put on to him, all he...
