    Freeview aerial???

If the signal strength is sufficient, then yes it can. However, my parents had reasonable analogue reception but when they got freeview it was hopeless - not many channels worked at all and those that did suffered bad drop-outs etc. A new, higher-gain aerial fixed that. When installing our...

    Freeview aerial???

As said, Freesat is an alternative, particularly as you already have an aligned dish etc installed. You just need a freesat box (and you can get Freesat HD). I've just finished installing Freesat HD, but would have gone for freeview HD if we could have (there's no freeview where I live)...

    Used EF 70-200mm f4 prices

The going rate seems to be between £350 and £400 depending on condition, etc. The tripod collar is an expensive accessory, but no box is a downpoint. It depends on how much use you'd make of the tripod collar I'd guess, and whether that collar is genuine canon. If it's genuine, close the deal at...

    Recommend a ball head

It's a moral/political issue rather than one of the quality of their products. It's been beaten to death on many forums and I don't want to derail the OP's thread. Google RRS and Proposition 8 for full details.

    Recommend a ball head

I would never buy anything from RRS. Since you're concerned about the base on the Markins Q3, what about the Q10? It's a bit bigger and heavier, but still relatively small and light compared to many and I've never had any issue with the panning base on my M10 (the older model).

    Recommend a ball head

I agree with Kokakaste - the Markins Q3 would seem to fit the bill, especially the Q3T - designed specifically to go with the Gitzo Traveller tripods. I have an M10 and it's a fantastic head.

New 5d - When is it due?

The product cycle on the 5D line is more like 3 years. 18 months would apply to xxD and about 12 months for xxxD

    Canon 70-200 f2.8 Mk1 & Mk2 2X

I've always found my 2X mk II to be disappointing - my father and I have tried it with 70-200 F4L, 70-200 F4L IS, 300 F4L IS, 135F2L and even 100-400L. Never really had a decent result, even with the 135 F2L which on its own is one of the very sharpest lenses canon have produced. The mk III...

Recommend me a comfy camera strap

Crumpler Industry Disgrace is my strap of choice now - comfier than the big op-tech I had before, without the bounciness or the quick release connectors (which I was never comfortable with).

    Canon EF 100-400mm L IS Lens ?

There's no indication that this is the case. I think most likely the 70-300L is intended to replace the 70-300 DO. What probably is likely is that any replacement for the 100-400 will have a similar physical design to the new 70-300L (which is the first white extending twist zoom).

    Canon EF 100-400mm L IS Lens ?

A colleague of mine has a 450D, 18-55 IS, 55-250IS and Sigma 150-500. He wants to trade the sigma for something else. I think the "right" lens depends very much on what you do. He's going on a trip to an indian jungle national park to photograph tigers - the lighting is not great under the...

Recommend a decent low light dslr body.

The A550 seems to broadly match the 500D - good results up to 3200ISO, and higher settings for emergencies only. Basically, the A550, K-x, D5000 and 500D/550D are all capable of good results up to ISO3200. Buy the one you like the best and enjoy.

    Camera bag suggestions please

I have been immensely pleased with my Think Tank speed freak: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=260342 This will hold your D90, 17-55, 70-200 and a flashgun all in the main compartment. Downside is it's not particularly discreet - Check out the UD and retrospective as...
