Just how much usage is 500mb per month...

I like it better than the standard browser that came on the phone, it's much faster and has a better interface, just keep in mind that everything goes via the opera servers, so don't do your internet banking with it, just in case.

I've never gone over my allowance, and that's with occasional tethering to a laptop. I use Opera mini as a browser as everything goes through their servers and gets compressed before being sent to you, which helps cut down the amount of data used while browsing.

    Java Script confusing my son

Yup, IE doesn't like short tags for javascript files, replace the 3 lines with the following and see if it fixes it. <script src='http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/prototype/1.7.0.0/prototype.js' type='text/javascript'></script> <script...

New and looking for help :)

Almost, but no :) If I were you I'd forget about the Nx zoom number, it's pretty irrelevant on a system where you can change lenses anyway. All you really need to understand to begin with is, the lower the number (in mm) the more of the scene will be in the image. And conversely the higher the...

New and looking for help :)

the x3 it's referring is the zoom factor that particular lens provides, i.e. at maximum zoom an object will appear in the viewfinder 3x larger than at minimum zoom. Basically, the lower the mm number the more you'll fit in the viewfinder, and the kit you're looking at will be a great starting...

    Shutter Life Question

I bought my camera for me, not the next person, so I take as many shots as I damn well please :)

    screen resolution.

I would try changing back to 32bit colour if you can, 16bit is pretty limiting and you'll notice quite a few things will look decidedly ropey.

    Time lapse without a computer

I saw a thread a little while ago where someone was looking for a way of doing time-lapse without needing to be tethered to a computer, I've had a look for the thread in question but can't find it. Anyway, I just saw this...

    Which lens?

I've just realised that Sony's have IS built in, so the sony version doesn't have it, but the rest of the post is still true.

    Which lens?

I got the (deep breath) Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD recently and am pretty happy with it so far, £339 from Jessops (they price matched Bristol Cameras for me, although Exeter is a lot closer to Bristol than Co. Antrim). It's sharper than the canon equivalent and the IS seems a bit...

Canon 17-40 f4 or Tamron 17-50 f2.8, help me decide

Is that right? I thought even EF-S lenses were multiplied on crop sensors for consistency in naming?

52-72mm Macro Coupler - Free to a good home

I'm not allowed to post in the classifieds section yet, so I hope it's OK to post this here. Bought in error (should've gone for the 62-52 instead) so whoever wants it can have it (it was only a fiver), just send me an SAE.

    I'm a sucker for slow-mo

Especially when it's 2,564 fps in 1080p! http://vimeo.com/19819283 the camera used does range from $50,000 - $150,000 though, so a smidge beyond my budget.
