Or alternatively stick with your 24-105 get a 5d and whack the ISO up, the 5d is good for it...

Never used a 17-40 but have just purchased a 24-70 for my 5d classic and find it a very useable walkabout lens. Another option is the 28-135 my wife uses one and for half the price it's a bit of a bargain!
