    Sigma 150-600mm contemporary

I use the Kenko DGX 1.4 with the 70-300mm L lens on a 6D and although it give a max of f8 I've never had a problem with the auto focus. I use the center spot 90% of the time and found that the focus is no different compared to without the extender. It's a great combination.

    Woodburners

We've had our wood burner now for 6 years and wouldn't be without it now. Part of the morning routine is to clean it out and re-lay it ready for the next lighting. Ash goes in a small bin bag and into the rubbish bin. That takes about 15 mins. This time of year I'm chopping kindling and storing...

    Beginner Back Button Focussing Technique

I use my left eye and i find that the nose fits nicely between the VF and the thumb. I also find that by using BBF I get a better grip on the camera.

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

I'm considering selling my M kit as I really don't like not having a viewfinder. Putting the camera up to your face helps to stabilize it as well as composing. Holding it up about a foot in front of your face flapping about just doesn't do it for me (too old school, I know!) Having said that I...

    Canon Firmware Update Question

Normally you don't need to install all the previous firmware as said above. If you go to the Canon web page you can ask this question of the Canon 'experts' and they will email the definitive answer.

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

I got the M with 22mm lens, the EF adapter, the 90EX flash, 32Mg card and a Manfrotto tripod for £349 3 months ago. If you've got Canon lenses then I'd say don't bother with the 18-55mm 'kit' lens as you have probably already got something in you bag to cover this. A small light camera highly...

    Camera club critique session

My camera club runs a critique evening twice a year. We ensure it is not too serious and encourage a certain amount of banter to make it reasonably sociable. We set a time limit so all images are critiqued. The photographer introduces the image talks about what was good what was bad and what was...

Potential terror threat at car boot sale

Some people are really strange. I wonder how many of the boot sale attendees were carrying a mobile with a camera? Probably about 95% of them. I think to old MYOB and long walk short pier suggestion would have been appropriate. Paul

    Lens Advice

You don't say what your budget is but a great lens for the 600D (I have this model) for aviation and sport is the Sigma 120-400mm (I have this lens) priced at about £725. Has 2 Optical Stabilisation modes, normal and one for panning. It's a heavy lens but has great IQ almost matching the Canon...

    Sigma lens.

I've seen some good write ups on the Siggy 120mm-400mm, compares very favourably with the Canon 100mm-400mm L re IQ at about half the price. Currently retails at £640. Paul
