I would recommend f1.4's solid build over the f1.8. plastic. In my opinion, f1.4 is one of canon's best portrait lenses.

The initial retail price will always be high to cream off the early adopters and companies working in the industry. Remember how the 7D and 5D mk2 feel in prices after a few months. I was hoping they would release one lighter in weight and in black.

Hey Kev, I had the exact same thing, I think it might be fleas cos my neighbours cat come around mine for a fuss when I am at home.

I did consider buying 24-70 but decided on the 24-105 in the end because of the below three. 1) good range of focal length making it an ideal walkaround lens. 2) it has IS, if 24-70 had IS, I would have chosen that instead. 3) its lighter than the 24-70 which is almost known as the "brick"...

The 24-105L F4 IS is on my camera 90% of the time. It is the only lens that covers a wide range of focol length in constant f4 aperature plus it has IS. Also its not too heavy.

What an amazing improvement Joe, I agree with your comment about this forum. I had a 5D and 50mm and in the last couple of months, I got 3 L lens, monopod, 430II, lots of strobe gears. The for sale section has totally cleared out my wallet :bonk:
