Chroma - Lasercut Acrylic 4x5 Field Camera

lol, it's sure an easy material to work with, I've seen a transparent wet plate camera before made from red acrylic but that was a very basic affair. It'll be interesting to see what the MDF version comes out like, with some epoxy varnish on the MDF you should get a really solid camera :)

Chroma - Lasercut Acrylic 4x5 Field Camera

I skimmed this thread so forgive me if this has been addressed. But I wondered why you'd use acrylic to make the camera? It's not exactly robust and breaks far to easily, I'd be looking at making it out of nice birch ply or something which will laser cut just as well? I spend a few hours every...

Do mpb normally pay what they've quoted?

Bought and sold quite a lot of things through MPB and have never had them quibble on the price they've quoted, I always make sure to state the condition in as much detail as possible though.

    Nikon XQD Card

I'm amazed the XQD cards haven't become more mass market too, they really are stunning in the D4, gone is the worry about having the buffer fill up if there's unmissable activity going on

    Taylor Wessing Portrait Proze Shortlist

Collodion is most sensitive in the Uv spectrum, making the images unique from digitally shot photos, unless you had a UV converted camera it would be almost impossible to reproduce, even shot on a converted DSLR they still lack something compared to collodion

    RAW/.NEF Image processing PC applications

I use Nikons Capture NX or capture one. I'm not sure if you can get either with a student licence though, I know you can for photoshop and lightroom though?

    Monitor Calibration tool info required

I've owned a few but now use the colormunki photo, it's a great piece of kit and calibrates the printer too for perfect matching

    Nik Efex

The silverfx plugin alone is worth the £95 on its own for the amount of time it saves!

    Gaffer Tape

I gave up on gaffer taping anything to my studio wales years ago it's great for removing the paint! I now just use either a background support, the hooks I've fitted of various walls or a C stand for smaller backgrounds. It saves me a fortune on decent white emulsion :)

    Recommend me a bag?

I use a lowe pro reporter for carrying small amounts of stuff and a think tank streetwalker hard drive (which also has laptops storage, the standard streetwalker doesn't but is a great size too) for the majority of bigger shoots, the think tank looks a small back but you can fit loads in it. I...

51 Point or 3D Tracking AF Mode?

I use single point for pretty much everything, very occasionally 9 point, it's all down to lots of practice really :). I found that the more stuff you have turned on for the camera to process the flower the focussing takes to lock on and you have more chance of it locking on to higher contrast...

Ultra wide lens for a full frame Nikon

I've got the 16mm fisheye and the 12-24 and I have to say that the 16mm gets used the most out of the two. The reason is mainly down to its size and weight, the 12-24 is a huge beast so I generally only take that out if I've got specific shots in mind, wheras I often pack the fisheye as it's...
