Mygreenlighting do daylight balanced 150w low energy bulbs that fit standard light fittings. These should be a good option for table top photography.

    Help

The Nissin does everything the SB800 does and is more powerful. I'm thinking of selling my SB800 and buying another Nissin.

    Help

Buy a Nissin DI866 professional flash. Its the more powerfull than the nikon heads and is fully compatible for ttl if you want to use it on the hotshoe. You should easily get one for £200. i have both the Nissin and a sb800. in my opinion the Nissin is far easier to use.

Coloured gel set - Damian Lovegrove alternatives?

Mmm maybe i'm a little out on the price there. i was buying single sheets for 2.50 +vat and noticed the pack of 24 while i was in there seemed a lot cheaper to me though than buying the single sheets.

Ken Rockwell - is it as easy as he makes it sound?

I agree kit is important to the quality of a shot but only if its a big crop or, youre looking to produce large prints though. Much better to use a midrange body and top quality glass, than a top of the range body with inferior glass. Spend most of your available budget on the lens and buy a...

    Hyperfocal Distance

In the days of film lenses used to have hyperfocal distance guides etched into the barrels of the lenses. These were really usefull for working out available depth of field. Just one way i think manufacturers have taken a step backwards.

    What is wrong with these

Camera shake is evident in the first pic. Modern cameras should have no problems with focusing. if its a focus problem i.e. wrong focal point some part of the picture will be sharp. If none of the picture is sharp its probably camera shake caused by the shutter speed being too slow . As a rule...

Worth every penny, Attended the mini lights course yesterday in Manchester. I would seriously suggest saving a little to one side and attending one if possible.

    Just watched 'Smugglers' on ITV

I'mm going to take up smoking. Just heard 20% of people die as a result of smoking, that means 80% die as a direct cause of NOT smoking. You have to play the odds sometimes:lol::lol::lol:

    Camera glass

If its going outside in all weathers i would suggest a hama underwater cover. Unless the camera is one you are prepared to scrap after use. Condensation would be a killer also, so a few silica gel satchets would be usefull.

    TopGear sued by Tesla

I reckon electric cars are dangerous. No kidding i nearly got knocked down by a prius on Portree harbour Isle of Skye. stepped back for a better composition of the shot, no noise from the car as it was on electrics. Only saw it at the last second, what would happen if a blind person wanted to...

Do I move to Combi Boiler?

Solved our poor water pressure for the shower with a shower pump. Fitted under the bath it takes no space up. We already had an airing cupboard with a cylinder in it so we fitted a sealed system boiler. No need for tanks in the loft so it freed up loads of room. We also fitted the condenser...
