    I think it could be your sink speed im not 100% on this as i am new to flash photography myself and i had the same issue i just changed the shutter speed and it stoped the issue.     D90 or D5000 for beginner

    I have a d5000 and can not fault it for image quality on the other hand when you start using all the different settings it's a bit annoying having to go through the menus to set anything up. But for a novice it's a fantastic set up I have 18-55 3.5 vr and 55-200 vr good look and have fun
