    Macro Lens

My Tamron 180mm was good enough for the 24MP Nikon D7100 and the 36MP Nikon D800, so it's well up to exploiting everything the 70D sensor has to offer. You can never have too much macro reach in my experience. The more focal length you have, the better working distance you have. Focus hunting...

TSL also do some good ones on ebay. Think they sell under the Pixapro brand these days.

    creases in the lastolite highlite

If you want grey with a HiLite, they sell a grey bottle top cover..... Creases aren't an issue in my experience. It's designed to be lit from inside and powered about 2 stops over your key light. Everything blows out to white so any creasing is invisible in the final image. I wouldn't use...

    Macro Lens

Have a look at a used Tamron 180mm f/3.5 (£300 - £400 on ebay) Better working distance and less likely to scare critters away than a 105....

    Nikon D7000 and Yongnuo flashgun

Not used the 460-II myself, but see no reason why it shouldn't work with your D7000. Certainly won't harm your camera.

    Nikon D7xxx owners thread

You'll find a screw drive version on eBay for a lot less if you don't mind buying used. That's where I picked mine up. Great lens!

Where to purchase decent flash gels

A more cost effective option if you don't mind bodging your own attachment method is to buy a Rosco colour correction kit. You get 12 30cm x 30cm gels for about 20 notes. You can cut lots of speedlite size gels from a nearly foot square sheet. The Rosco gels are intended for use on stage/film...

    Muslin or paper

Have you considered vinyl? More expensive than paper, but harder wearing, longer lasting and less prone to creasing.

Bessel double sided vinyl backdrops? Any good

Bessel's standard vinyl backdrops are 400gsm, and 600gsm for the double sided version. Viewfinder's are 600/660gsm in standard and 900gsm in the heavy duty. If Garry was happy with a 660gsm backdrop, I'd guess the Bessel double sided at 600gsm is probably good enough. Bear in mind also that...

Why dont studio strobes use speedlight technology ??

Garry, I've read that speed lights are less colour consistent than studio heads because of the way the power is controlled. Is that true?

    Printing Help!

In the Develop module, select the image and pres the 'R' key on your keyboard to open the crop tool. (Pressing the 'O' key toggles the crop overlay and the 'X' key rotates between landscape and portrait.) On the right hand panel you will see a padlock. If it's closed, you can only adjust the...

    What went wrong?

Custom profiles work fine in LR3. Save the profile to your PC. Right click on it and select 'install'. In the export dialogue in LR3, go to File Settings and select the relevant profile under the Colour Space drop down. It'll be called DS something depending on the one you've chosen.

Pine Marten takes plate as well as cake ?

I honeymooned near Argyll Forest in the west of Scotland earlier this year - we were strongly advised not to leave shoes/boots/wellies outdoors overnight as the foxes have a habit of taking them. Seems they're attracted by the smell......

    Richmond park rut

The rut's picking up a bit in Richmond Park, although most of the activity has been among the younger males who have yet to acquire any hinds. There's a big, dominant male with a harem of about 20 hinds who seems to spend much of his time in the open area between the Ham Cross and Pond...

I want to buy a new digital camera and need advice

Your current lenses are perfectly adequate for a D7000. I have owned and used the 70-210 on both a D700 and a D7000. The D5100 won't autofocus with your current lenses. It also lacks many of the dedicated function buttons of the D7000 and requires frequent access to the menu to change settings...
