Dale, you may be already aware of this but just in case you're not the Neewer batteries work very well and are much cheaper than the Canon ones. I've bought both and frankly can't tell the difference in performance.

Hi Gordon, did you use Pangolin trips in Botswana?...that's funny if so we used them on the Chobe river for a few trips and they were very good. I'm using the 100-500 now with the R5/2, it's a reasonable weight and yes the DO was good but there is a significant weight advantage on the 100-500...
