All of my kit, such as laptops, cameras, lenses, etc are covered under the possessions insurances under my contents insurance. It's about £50-100 a year extra for the all the cover I think, but it's worth it.
I went to buy a cleaning kit today - but once again was bamboozled and taken aback by all the choice. The kits can start at £5 and the most expensive I found was £60... all of which seem to have the same things; a blower, microfiber cloth, some other type of cloth, and fluid.
What's a good...
Actually went through my camera stuff this evening and found I had quite a weighty CPL already. No idea where it came from or what manufacturer it is though. Don't you love it when you find stuff you didn't realise you had?! Will have to play with it and see what affect it has this weekend.
Received it today. Was working from home due to having my holiday jabs early this morning. Didn't get chance to play with it much, but it's definitely not an indoor lens.
Am very much looking forward to going to play with the animals this weekend. ;)
Showing off my naivety there I think! I'm glad I asked the question before going out and buying them! Saved myself a good £40-60 there. I'll probably have the hood on all the time, so I guess the UV filter is pointless. I'll just be sure to clean the lens daily.
I meant lens and hood. Woops! Sorry. Should get the lens tomorrow and the hood on Friday. Going down to Hamerton Zoo on Saturday or Sunday to have a play.
Ordered myself the Canon EF 70-300mm for my Safari and I think I'll be needing a 58mm CPL. From what I've been reading, Hoya are the way forward. But unfortunately when going to buy one I've been massively confused by all the different ones available.
Which one should I get for nature shots...
Just bought the same lens Kickstart. I should get it tomorrow, cannot wait to have a play. I will be sure to post up the pics when I get back off holiday. Still a month and a half to go though.
I'm signed up to the DMZ Photography course. Not started it (paid for it in October). They've not nagged me or anything, but I'm hoping once I get started it'll be good. Plus I get a recognised qualification at the end of it.
I'm looking at the Canon EF 70-300mm with IS for the next purchase before my Safari. What's the general opinion of the lens? Is anyone using it and have any example images?
I've found it on Amazon for £408... the hood is £30, is it worth getting the genuine one, or should I get the cheapo one...
Is the Sigma range any good then? I've always heard bad things about them. From what I've read Tamron and Canon are the way forward... any truth in that?
I think I probably will end up renting it then. I'll decide close to the time... but in the interim, what other options are available to get practising on? I really am a proper novice, so I want to be getting out and about learning and snapping in the next few months before I go. There's no...
Thanks for the welcome messages guys.
Unfortunately the price tag of the 100-400mm Canon lens is about triple(ish) my budget, so can't really stretch to that. What other alternatives are there? If not, could I get away with skimping on the focal length and going for a 300mm instead?
Good idea...
