iMac users - switching Fusion HD to SSD ?

It is possible to boot an Intel iMac27 from an external SSD via USB3. Did it on my late-2012 version after which it cold booted in about 30-seconds or maybe a bit less. Worked really well for five or six years and I only retired the machine a couple of months ago when I got a 27” Benq monitor to...

    External SSD

I ran a 500GB Samsung T5 as my main drive (via USB) on a late-2012 iMac27 for quite few years (maybe five) without any issue whatsoever. So, I'd consider Samsung again. Current T7 2TB seems to be about £250.

    Monitor

According to the data sheet posted on Amazon, the warranty is 2-years… PS, I’ve also plugged a Firestick into one of the HDMI ports, works a treat.

    Which Mac Mini ?

I recently retired my late-2012 iMac 27 and though about going for a MacMini. But, I already had a 13” MacBook Air M2 (8GB and 512GB) bought in early 2024 (best laptop I’ve ever used, a refurbed M4 with 16GB or more would be even better) So, I’m using that with a Benq MA270U 27” monitor. Can...

canon 1dx 3 replace shutter anyone?

What is it about the 1DXiii and your ‘old’ 300mm that doesn’t hit the mark?

    New Benq Monitor Day

Just bought a 27" Benq MA270U monitor for £399 off Amazon for use with my M2 MacBook Air. This is the nano-matte screen version. Benq have targeted this monitor at MacBook use. It also works fine with my wife's Windows 11 Asus VivoBook, though graphics card isn't as good in this as the MacBook...

Where do you buy frames for your printed photos?

Me too. Some of their frames are really nice IMHO.

Old cameras, sell on or keep?

Same here, and not just with photographic gear. I'm not exactly a horder, but my loft and garage space might disagree... ;)

    Office 2024 download?

Having used Word for several decades, I’ve now been using Libre Office for the last few years. Does everything I needed Word* for, including reading, editing and creating Word documents. Definitely worth checking out IMHO before lashing out for MS Office. *Excel too

    Merry Christmas and New Year

Close enough for a winter festival. Don’t have to be religious to take time now and again, to share gifts and spread a little goodwill.
