Cleaning the sensor it's self isn't a problem using the usuall swab and cleaning fluid kits I've done this several times. Just avoid touching the flip up mirror. As the fluid will damage the plastic material it's made from
Just in addition to using exposed film to cover the body flash. If you have a old tv remote or any similar remote you will find a small piece of red plastic at the front of the remote. Use this over you body flash. This does the trick too
If the mirror gets as damaged as mine did due to the sensor cleaning solution it was pretty impossible for the camera to auto focus most of the time. . The fluid basically left lots of run marks on the mirror which had damaged the surface of the plastic material. Still lesson learned now. All...
That's a good question. If its on the mirror I too have heard that a rocket blower does the trick and I had heard a very very soft artist brush. But I ain't to sure about the brush method. As the mirror is plastic it scratches very easily. I'm personal scared to even look at the bloody thing...
Just passing on a little warning if you have any of the Sony SLT type cameras. With the new translucent mirror. Don't try to clean this with any type of sensor cleaner. It is not glass but a very delicate plastics. I learnt the hard way. Although very easy to replace this mirror will set...
I've just done the same thing with the German market in Manchester I managed to get some candid shots. It does feel a bit stalker ish but if any one did complain. Just say your doing a project and offer to delete the image. No harm done
Just an idea I had the same thing on my Sony A200 it turned out to be the Minolta lens I was using had oil on the aperture blades. Might be worth a check see if they are free and snappy as they should be
