Kinda figured that on both accounts... Thanks.

    Dust in elements?

Ok, been looking at buying a Canon 28-70mm f2.8 L USM and have found some at very attractive prices. One mentions it's in excellent condition (pics look great of it) but has a tiny bit of dust in the elements. Now, I thought the L lenses were pretty-well sealed? btw, this lens is on...

    Canon 28-70mm f2.8 L

Thanks, hadn't seen the FM one before. I saw the other one but she reviews it as a film photographer, not sure how much difference that makes but I don't shoot film. :) I think I'm gonna scrape some pennies together to get this one. Seems like a good idea. Thanks.

    Canon 28-70mm f2.8 L

Ok, think I've decided to bite the bullet and go for the better glass instead of going after the less expensive (not as good) glass. My question is, should I hold out for the 24-70mm or go after the 28-70mm lens? I'm asking because I've found a good 28-70mm (used) lens locally at a great price...

    10 Year Old 28-70 L lens?

Thanks. I think, if I get a good enough deal, I may go for it.

    10 Year Old 28-70 L lens?

Hmm...wondering whether I should try and get this for a small amount. The new ones are going for US$1200-1300 here. Might be able to pick this one up for around US$500, wonder if it's worth the risk...

    10 Year Old 28-70 L lens?

In another thread I'm looking at a mid-range fast zoom. Might be able to get a 10 year old L series lens for a good price. It's been cleaned and refurbished. Not sure if the older lens is that much different than the newer. Looking at the 28-70mm f2.8. What do you think?

    Which fast mid-range Zoom?

Yeah, as I do more research, it's obvious I need to bite the bullet and get good glass. Just not sure where I'm gonna come up with the $$$ for the better glass. :(

    Which fast mid-range Zoom?

Anyone tried the Tokina atx pro 28-70 f2.8? See one on Craig's List for a decent price but I see mixed reviews. Some people say it's a bit soft at f2.8--what I need it for--others say it's sharp. Maybe QC issues? People say Tokina has excellent customer service.

    Which fast mid-range Zoom?

Well I'm shooting with the 50mm f1.8 right now and I find myself wanting a bit more reach and a bit wider (at times). Was thinking of getting the 85mm but, I'd have more problems at the wide end of the focal range. Not practical to switch between lenses in the middle of the matches. So a...

    Which fast mid-range Zoom?

Yeah but not at f2.8 which is what I need for indoor sports photography--unless I'm missing something... (Keep in mind, I'm in the US.)

    Which fast mid-range Zoom?

Ok, looking at adding a mid-range fast zoom to my equipment list (small one that it is). I need it for shooting wrestling and grappling indoors. I can't afford Canon glass at the moment (unfortunately) so I'm looking at these three lenses: -Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro DF US$569 -Sigma...

Aperture button? You just spin the dial on the back for aperture. Or am I missing what you're talking about?

    Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Canon Mount

Ah, but it took good images? Sharp? Do you think it's worth the money if the focal lengths are good for the shooter? Thanks.
