    Newbie needs knowledge

Thanks. The lens itself doesn't rotate on my ones. I went to buuy a hood for my quantaray from Jessops today, they only sell 58mm ones, and because it has a 62mm thread the bloke said it will cause vignetting - although he was confident it'd fit on there and be o.k. at the thin end. Has anyone...

    One cigarette left

I've been off them 3 months. I'd failed before on many attempts, nothing worked: patches, willpower, gum, zyban, nothing. A combination practically stopping drinking (normally failed when seeing friends smoke down the pub) and a new drug called champix has worked, though. I wish you luck!

Thanks. I don't understand how the lenses are supposed to focus without rotating

Thanks for the reply, but what do you mean by back reflections?

    Newbie needs knowledge

I recently purchased a second hand Canon 400D from ebay, which came with: 18-125mm 3.5 -5.6 quantaray, an EF 90-30mm 4.5 - 5.6, some extension tube thingies and a Futin 0.45 x 58mm wide angle and macro screw on thing. It also came with a 58-62 mm ring that'll screw onto the futin's macro end...

    Tripod, or monopod?

Yeah. I actually asked if he would further reduce due to buying both, but he rightly pointed out that 10% off is already a good deal. That seems to be most people's view, but most of the things I'll be shooting will be stationary so I doubt I'll regret not splashing the extra 25 quid.

    Tripod, or monopod?

I just ordered 1x RSM-284 Monopod & RSH-20 Mini Ball Head and 1x 283 Tripod and RSH-528 3-Way Head Kit. Which seems like a pretty good deal for about £110, including next day delivery :)

    Tripod, or monopod?

I found this one http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=99658 - looks pretty good, is that the one you were talking about? I'll mostly be shooting landscapes, sunset/rises, nature, maybe do a few weddings for £ if I get good enough, a bit of macro stuff, star...

    Tripod, or monopod?

Cheers for the FYI! Does that extend to monopods?

    Tripod, or monopod?

Thanks for the reponses. Given the stability issue I think I'm going to go for a tripod - I hope to get some nice long exposure shots (although I'm sure I'll get a load of funny looks when I set it up in Chester zoo, etc lol.) Can anyone recommend a good/cheap red snapper one? I had a look at...

    Tripod, or monopod?

I purchased my first DSLR last week (Canon 400) and after taking it out for the day I soon realised that a tripod or monopod is a necessity. I'm leaning more towards a monopod due to the better portabilty (and cost), but I'm concerned about how stable the platform they provide is. Answers to...
