What's your budget? There's a million different cameras that you could class as a go pro type, at the top of the price range are the genuine go pros, but some of the Chinese copies like the Sjcam aren't bad for the money.

I got one of these ones to take on my safari, was really good, although it is pretty big! took up a lot of room in my suit case. The design meant it sat on the lip of the roof panel nicely and stopped it falling off. I used it with an 80d and a 100-400.

I've recently got back from a safari where I took my 80d and Mk1 100-400, although I got some amazing shots I did have some focusing issues with the 100-400 when it's at about 200mm focal length. I've recently bought a very lightweight travelling tripod and it has a leg that you can remove and turn into a monopod. For what it cost I must say it's a really impressive tripod, has a fluid filled head too and an angle read out for when you're doing panoramics.
