    Strobe Rental

Thanks Chris. Gave the guys at the flash centre a call and they're sorting me out.

    Strobe Rental

Manchester is a possibility but only if I can't find anything closer or who can supply via a courier. It's 45min to an hours journey away so to factoring in a return journey each way means that picking up the kit will take as long as the job itself.

In Leeds, won't be back in London for a while so not an option unless it can be sent up.

    Strobe Rental

Hi, Hoping somebody out there might be able to point me in the right direction. Usually for lenses and such I just use lensesforhire but this time I'm in need of some strobes. I found camerarent and used them as they managed to cover everything but despite a network spanning about 40 depots...

    Shooting a supercar

Haha police car with lights on would do the job perfectly. Probably will keep this shoot fairly static, might have a look into shooting out the back of the car next time. Got in mind a few nice locations that should look sweet at sunset. Out of interest Ev_, I saw on your flickr you do shots...

    Shooting a supercar

Bit of a general question but I've got the opportunity to have a ride and then take some photos of a friend's Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider, like this (http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m-angle-grey.jpg) Anyway, just after some general tips...

    Off-camera speedlite

Been asked to have a go at some portrait work for a friend so I've been looking at getting my flash off the camera. Not too bothered about wireless strobe work for now whilst I just have a speedlite, that'll come later. For getting my speedlite 430 ex II off cam (5d mark II), a sync cord of...

    Photo management

I've been doing photography for about 9months or so now, using Lightroom to manage a bank of raw files that's about 6000 in number and 150gb in size. Now, with my macbook hard drive full up, it strikes me that this probably isn't the best way to archive things. So basically I was wondering what...

    RAW vs Jpeg

It will usually be the same amount unless you're saving as sRAW.

continuous lighting for digital video & stills?

I guess I am struggling to get why you wouldn't have CFLs over readheads these days. 125W CFLs give you 625W equivalent and you get them for the same price, obviously lower power, a lot less heat and daylight colour range. Only ebay but there's a couple of 125W softboxes for £130. It isn't 3...

continuous lighting for digital video & stills?

I'll start up my own thread if I start to encroach but as I have a similar query and this has been unposted in for a couple of days, I thought I'd weigh in with my position. I'm also looking at investing in lighting kit but primarily do video. That said, model photography is something I want to...

    Music photography Qs

Well, upon speaking to the newspaper, who I was taking the photos for, seems that the Royksopp management decided to pull photo passes this evening for some unknown reason. Anybody know why they might do that? I was with another photographer from a magazine when I was trying to get in and she...

    Music photography Qs

This was my first taste of involvement with them. I'm more used to doing paid corporate stuff to be honest where things...get sorted. Like to drop myself in at the deep end. The 5d mark II was my first SLR, first digital camera in fact. Nope, no flash but I have a bunch of 1.4s and obviously...

5D Mk11 for video, any good?

Having owned a 5D Mark II and now owning a 7D, I feel I should comment. The 5D and 7D, both in my opinion, aren't really camcorder replacements in the same sense that they're not really P&S replacements. They're both very good video cams, I bought them because they were so much better than...
