I think your behaving like my wife..............
She also reads things into conversations that have never been stated , I think you'll find the only person mentioning sensor formats is you ?
Personally I'd go for a 100mm - the working distance (distance from the lens element to subject) is just to small on a 60mm (approx 90mm) where as the 100mm will give around 150mm.
Personally 90% of my macro utilises flash, why not try a 3rd party hot shoe flash from Nissin or Yongnuo and build yourself a diffuser, should be able to pick one up for about £50. The led units are a waste of time , they don't deliver enough light.
Cheap manual tubes are a painin the ass, it's not the manual focus that's the issue it's the loss of aperture control from the body that makes it very difficult. It's such a pain you just won't use them.
Yes.... The main drawback is doesn't have internal focusing. The MWD is 122mm which is more than the Tamron 90 which is only 99mm. I had one as my first macro lens and was happy with the IQ and usability
Sigma 150mm is a cracking lens, internal focus, 194mm working distance lovely bokeh , sharper than a sharp thing, just takes a little getting used to hand holding due to the weight.
The main problem with that lens is the short working distance (distance from the end of the Lens to subject) which is only 65mm, adding tubes will only reduce this.
I use a mt24-ex with my MP-E complete with blue Peter diffusers , but tend to use a std flash on a manfrotto flash bracket when using a std macro lens.
With the canon lens you should be ok with a diffused external flash as the lens barrel doesn't extend when focussing, take a look herehttp://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=132158 for some flash diffuser inspiration .
Try and pickup a Canon 100mm macro, it has internal focusing and a longer working distance than the siggy, if you have the budget then sigma 150mm is a cracking lens. Don't forget to factor in the cost of a flash to get the best from any macro lens.
I used to have a canon 50mm f1.4 now I have the Sigma 50m f1.4' I also went from a Canon 85mmf1.8 to the sigma 85mm f1.4 and have no regrets :-)
I 've also got a 150mm f2.8 OS macro which I preferred to the Canon 100m L macro
