Can't compare to the Canon, but I recently picked one up. It's sharper than the Tamron 17-50 2.8 it replaced up 'till about f5.6 and has fast, silent and accurate AF. I'm really happy with mine, absolute bargain at current prices.

After a bit more testing I think the AF is fine ... think I was looking for problems when there really is nothing to complain about with this lens. For anyone on the fence, Pricespy are now showing a couple of UK dealers selling for £750 who aren't on the camerapricebuster site ...

Mine arrived yesterday, its girth and mass let me feel like a "real" photographer for about 30 seconds as I paraded around the house ... I then came crashing down to earth pretty quickly when I realised I needed at least 1/200 shutter speed to get anything approaching sharp ... need to cut down...

I tried one briefly in a shop and I'm a convert. It's not that big and heavy, seems very sharp and seems to have that elusive 3d thing going on. If anyone is looking to shift theirs, I've a thread in the wanted section!

Lovely shots, this "take your time talk", does it stutter to find initial focus in low light (think incandescent light on a cold winters evening!) a la Nikon Live View, or is it just not good at subject tracking?

I'm in the same boat, have broken my DSLR and have decided I need something cheaper/lighter until kids grow up a bit and stop breaking mirrors on DSLRs, I've one additional requirement - needs decent video, how good/bad are the Fuji's? Other option might be a Sony a6000 with a couple of Sigma...

Surprisining that the difference is so big, is that JPEG or RAW? Is it just better/more aggressive noise reduction algorithms?
