Hi all, I have recently sold my Canon 550d with kit lens and 18-200mm. The Canon was my first dslr nearly 2 years ago and has served me well. I also bought the 18-200mm for convenience and that was also good for what I wanted.
I am now looking at starting again with lenses and quality in mind...
I have decided not to save my house fund this month as a reward for saving 6 months straight. I'm ahead of target with saving so i'm treating myself to a new lens and to stop the girlfriend moaning i'll buy her a couple of items of clothing lol.
I see this been said on quite a few forums and threads but i use the filter simply to protect from original glass being damaged and if my photography ever progresses to the point where the image quality is so important and is suffering due to the filter i will stop using it.
I am buying a UV filter for protection and a lens hood. My question is can these be used together at the same time or will only one fit on the lens at one time?

First of all, if this is in the wrong section i apologise.
Just thought i would share this for those who may not have seen it but sure people will have done. I really want to learn how to do this kind of stuff...
I was looking at this deal couple of weeks ago and asked on here but the two lenses in the offer are not IS so therefore i am going to get the 550D with 18-55mm IS lens from jessops at £600. And then i am going to get the 55-250 IS lens as these would be better lenses than the 18-55 and 70-300...
Thankyou, i'll look into these and compare them against my options.
I just get put off the d90 as it's not in production anymore and would rather have a newer model. and then i can always upgrade later on.
Thanks i will :)
I have now created a Flickr Account and added a few photos from my phone (really need to get my DSLR) and i have created a border and signature for the photos. Comments and criticism always welcome.

On the advise i will stick to Canon or Nikon as i intent to be doing this for a long time and i want to get a nice collection of lenses and upgrade camera in the future. I may go for the Nikon D3100 as it's my first dslr and this will be more than enough for my needs and i can always upgrade...
Ok so i was all set on the 550D and then i see this Sony Alpha a580.
