Again thank you, I have been doing some reading and I feel a DSLR will suit me better, I'm not into sport however I have a young Golden retriever who I like to photograph while chasing around and I like to go to the odd airshow, so I just feel a DSLR offers less restrictions and I feel my 2k...

Thanks Ben, do you shoot FF?, i do and always find a tight crop too much for Bird photography hence wanting to try the extender. have to agree the 70-300 is a great lens.

Which Kenko extender for the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM

I would like to try a 1.4 extender on my 70-300 lens and wanted to know what others are using, do i need the DGX or will the DG do the same job? I need AF to function and have read many reviews where others have had good results so looking for some advice before i buy. Thanks Tony

    Would u use a filter?

I have found a filter degrades a tele lens taking shots of tiny birds so dont use one on these but on a walkabout lens like my 24-105 i have one fitted most of the time to avoid scratches

Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens

Thanks Gary strange how the 400mm still feels like a modern lens while the 100-400 feels like a throw back to my AE1 days.

Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens

Yes i agree hence buying the 400mm as well i dont like converters but will probably get one just to see how it functions, i didnt like the 100-400 one bit and after a few days with the 70-300 i am so glad i switched and feel comfortable using it and with the results..

Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens

I never considered the 70-200 f4 IS as i wanted the 300mm within the lens as i dont like converters on anything other than a prime lens. I shhot Birds and wildlife but also will use the 70-300 for anything that needs to get closer than the 24-105
